African Music Festival Goes to China

Africa is taking its heritage to the world. The African Music Festival is coming to China. According to Oko Drammeh, the President of the Pan African China Business Club Corporation, the Festival will take place in three Chinese cities -- Beijing, Shangai and Hanan City. This international festival is expected to bring together many African artists, heads of state, business associates and other partners in a bid to strengthen ties between China and Africa. Artists billed to perform include Manu Dibango from Cameroon, Senegalese Mbalax superstar - the Soto Koto Band, and South Africa's Hugh Masekela. The festival will also incorporate cultural events like the African Fashion Shows and Textiles, African Arts and Painting Exhibitions.

For nearly two decades The African Music Festival, the premier event in African music has brought a host of musicians, drummers, dancers and singers from all over Africa to perform for an international audience. Stars like Miriam Makeba (South Africa), Youssou Ndour (Senegal), Toure Kunda (Senegal), Mory Kante (Guinea) and Salifu Keita (Mali) to the attention general public. He was also instumental in introducing the music of, amongst others, Angelique Kidjo (Benin) and Randy weston (USA) to the Dutch as well as European public, as well as Manu Dibango (Cameroen) and Osibisa (Ghana).
